Overview
Kama is a Servant appearing in media such as the mobile game Fate/Grand Order. Originally a male deity of love in Hindu mythology, Kama manifests as a female Pseudo-Servant by using the dark side of Matou Sakura as her vessel. Summoned primarily under the Assassin class, she possesses authority over inducing human depravity while harboring a deeply self-deprecating demeanor. She plays key roles across various story chapters, including the Tokugawa Kaiten Meikyu Ooku event and the Ordeal Call chapters.
Appearance
Kama features white hair, red eyes, a hair ribbon, earrings, and bare shoulders. As her Ascension stages progress, her physical appearance ages upward, transforming from a small girl into a teenager, and ultimately into a mature woman. In her Third Ascension, her limbs become wreathed in blue flames and cosmic visual effects, accompanied by a significant increase in revealing clothing. Her physical age and form can also fluidly adapt according to the preferences of those before her.
Personality
Kama exhibits a deeply pessimistic, downer attitude, frequently acting listless and self-deprecating. Traumatized by her past of being incinerated by Shiva, she views love with lingering emotional scars and takes pleasure in leading others into depravity. Beneath her cynical front lies a diligent nature that strives for perfection once committed to a task, though she remains prone to careless mistakes. While she affects a cold demeanor toward her Master, she unconsciously harbours expectations and grows flustered when pressed with straightforward affection.
Abilities
In combat, Kama utilizes arrows of love alongside direct strikes with her bow, throwing weapons from her thighs, blasts of Imaginary Number mana, and black orbs, as well as vine-based bounded fields. Higher Ascensions grant her remote control of a floating Vajra, omnidirectional beams, and lingering divine flames. Her skills include Magic Resistance, Riding, Independent Manifestation, Core of the Love God, Blessing of the Goddess, Ananga, and Mara Papiyas. Her Noble Phantasms are Kama Sammohana and Samsara Kama.
Background
In myth, after striking the meditating Shiva with an arrow of desire, Kama was incinerated by Shiva's third eye, losing her physical body and becoming Ananga, the bodily-less one. She is also identified with Mara, the demon king and embodiment of worldly desires. Upon manifesting as a Pseudo-Servant, her divine spirit fused with the rejected dark aspects of her vessel, resulting in her summoning across various Servant classes.
Relationships
Kama harbors an intense fear and hatred toward Shiva and his third eye, which incinerated her original body. She also holds a deep distaste for the goddess Parvati, who shares the same vessel through her good aspect. Regarding her Master, Fujimaru Ritsuka, she pretends to view them merely as a toy, yet secretly harbors an unconscious desire for acceptance, leaving her unable to look away from them.
Trivia
Though naturally suited for the Archer class, her class properties shift under specific conditions. Her name stems from the Sanskrit word denoting love, passion, and desire. In Chaldea, she alters her physical maturity to suit the situation, sometimes spending time with child Servants while in her younger form. To maintain her physical manifestation, she requires regular sleep to process internal defragmentation.
