Overview
Morgan Le Fay is a character in the Fate series by TYPE-MOON, derived from Arthurian legend as the sister of Artoria Pendragon. In Fate/Grand Order's Lostbelt No. 6, Fairy Realm of the Round Table: Avalon le Fae, she reigns over Fairy Britain as the absolute monarch known as the Winter Queen. Summoned as a Berserker-class Servant, she is a supreme mage who previously traveled as the Savior Aesc (Tonnerico) and the Witch of Rain.
Appearance
Morgan features long silver hair tied into a high ponytail with a large hair bow and side locks framing her faces, accompanied by blue eyes. She wears a black, white, and blue two-tone dress featuring bare shoulders and long sleeves. Her attire includes a black crown with a dark veil. She carries a dark magical spear that alters its shape into a staff, a cross-shaped spear, or a combined poleaxe depending on her ascension. In Fate/Apocrypha, her face is hidden by a dark veil, and red magic crests are visible on her chest and stomach.
Personality
Morgan possesses a calm, deeply rational, and autocratic demeanor. Reluctant to trust others, she relies heavily on her own capabilities and strictly enforces her own rules, yet remains sensible enough to adapt when required. She tends to express her feelings through actions rather than words, often causing her true intentions to be misunderstood. She harbors an absolute revulsion toward caterpillars and insects. Upon her summoning to Chaldea, she exhibits strong possessiveness and affection toward the Master, addressing them directly as her spouse.
Abilities
As a top-tier fairy, Morgan boasts supreme magical capacity, mastering the Holy Spear Rhongomyniad in the form of magecraft. She naturally commands skills such as Item Construction and Territory Creation, alongside an innate Fairy Eye that discerns lies. Her inherent skills include Craving Charisma, Protection of the Lake (Fairy of Avalon), and From the End, enabling her to manipulate curses, provide magical energy, and bolster allies. Her Noble Phantasm, Roadless Camelot, manifests her deep-seated grudge and desire to overthrow human history into a devastating Anti-Fortress attack.
Background
Raised in the northern realm of Orkney under the name Aesc by the Rain Clan, she embarked on a millennium-long journey as a savior after her clan was wiped out. Shaken by countless betrayals and tragedies, she eventually abandoned her altruistic path to become the Winter Queen, ruling Fairy Britain through fear for over two thousand years. Holding memories of the Proper Human History, she also retains the past trauma of being the true heir of Britain who came to harbor hatred toward King Uther and her sister Artoria.
Relationships
Artoria Pendragon is her half-sister in Proper Human History, toward whom she holds complex hatred and envy. She claims Fujimaru Ritsuka as her spouse upon being summoned. She commands the Fairy Knights Lancelot, Gawain, and Tristan (Baobhan Sith), bestowing deep maternal affection upon her adopted daughter Baobhan Sith. In Proper Human History, she is the mother of Gawain, Gaheris, Gareth, and Agravain, and created Mordred as a homunculus. During her past travels as Aesc, she was accompanied by Totorotto and Grim the Sage.
Trivia
In the anime adaptation of Fate/Apocrypha, she was credited as Mordred's Mother. Designed by Takashi Takeuchi, her voice is provided by Yui Ishikawa in Fate/Grand Order. During the Water Monster Crisis event, she performed unauthorized Rayshifts and demonstrated a lighter side by playing with mysterious creatures named Con and walking on stilts. In Fate lore, her character synthesizes several mythical figures from Arthurian legend, including Vivian (the Lady of the Lake) and Morgause.
