Overview
Dobrynya Nikitich is a Rider-class Servant appearing in Fate/Grand Order. Based on the heroic warrior from Russian folklore's Bylina epic who served Prince Vladimir of Kyiv, Nikitich is a renowned dragon slayer ranked second among the legendary Bogatyrs. Although traditionally documented as male, Nikitich manifests in the game as a female warrior with feline traits. Summoned as a stray Servant during the Tunguska Sanctuary event, Nikitich assists the protagonist's party in their confrontation with Koyanskaya.
Appearance
Nikitich appears as a female warrior with long silver hair, blue eyes, and animal features including cat ears, a cat tail, and claws. Her outfit incorporates a white dress with bare shoulders, fur trim, a detached collar, hair ribbons, and a blue bow. She carries a Damascus steel mace and a halberd into battle, and rides a white creature—originally a horse that was transformed into a wyvern by a dragon's curse.
Personality
Using the masculine pronoun 'ore' or 'jibun,' Nikitich is a quiet, straightforward warrior who acts swiftly without hesitation. Possessing a calm awareness of her own limits, she nonetheless carries an immense pride in her martial capabilities. She prefers leaving battlefield command to leaders, opting to act as a frontline combatant or operate independently on scouting missions. While composed and self-assured, she has no tolerance for her mount's lewd antics, promptly disciplining him with a physical blow when he steps out of line.
Abilities
Nikitich possesses high-tier Magic Resistance and a skill granting perpetual youth derived from her mount's anti-aging power. She holds an EX-rank Riding capability that enables her to ride dragonkin, and utilizes her Damascus steel mace and chestplate as powerful armaments in combat. Her Noble Phantasm, Zmei Gorynych, summons the three-headed evil dragon she once defeated to unleash triple blue fiery breath, followed immediately by Nikitich delivering a decisive crushing strike with her heavy weapon. She excels in combat against dragon-trait enemies and can impart dragon-slaying properties to her allies.
Background
In Russian lore, Nikitich earned renown by slaying the three-headed dragon Zmei Gorynych to rescue a princess, later marrying the warrior giantess Nastasia. Upon being summoned by Chaldea in a female form despite traditional accounts, Nikitich leaves the mystery of her altered manifestation unresolved. In her backstory within the Fate universe, she was summoned around the time of the Tunguska event, where she named and briefly cared for a newly born infant entity as 'Yaskaya,' a period of child-rearing she regretfully feels she ended too soon.
Relationships
Nikitich contracts with Fujimaru Ritsuka, treating her Master with absolute trust akin to a warrior's legendary steed. She harbors deep maternal feelings toward Koyanskaya, whom she named Yaskaya and cared for in the past. She holds immense devotion for her biological wife Nastasia; this shared trait of having a devoted waiting spouse makes her good drinking companions with Odysseus. During operations, she works alongside Taigong Wang despite finding him somewhat roundabout, and shares common ground with fellow dragon slayers like Saint Martha.
Trivia
The character design was created by illustrator Robina, who previously worked on the Fate/EXTRA manga adaptations. Although traditional Bylina legends mention Nikitich wielding the sword Samosyok, her Fate incarnation primarily uses a mace and halberd in battle.
