Overview
Romulus-Quirinus is a Lancer-class Servant featured in Fate/Grand Order. Representing the deified supreme deity of Rome into which the founding king Romulus ascended, he encapsulates the growth of civilization and the boundless potential of humanity after the Age of Gods. Originally summoned in the Grand Lancer class to protect Human History, he possesses power on par with supreme gods while retaining a deep, benevolent love for mankind.
Appearance
Romulus-Quirinus features blue hair, red eyes, and dark skin. He wears magnificent golden armor that resembles divine mail. Because Caligula served as his physical medium during summoning, his facial structure and build bear a strong resemblance to him, standing at 185 cm in height and weighing 73 kg. In his Third Ascension, he discharges high-output magical energy from his back wings and feet like thrusters to float in midair. His conceptual entity transcends conventional biological gender.
Personality
Despite possessing the grandeur and dignity of a supreme god, Romulus-Quirinus is defined by boundless love for humanity. He treats his Master and fellow Servants with warmth and affability, demonstrating immense open-mindedness by even evaluating hostile entities with grace. While he normally refers to himself with modest first-person terms, he adopts majestic regal phrasing when speaking as the founding father of Rome, addressing others lovingly as his children.
Abilities
In combat, he strikes with beam-like energy rays and martial techniques mimicking spears of light. He retains exceptional capabilities through skills such as Principal God's Divine Core, Divine Transformation, and Throne of Quirinus. A defining power is his ability to bestow the Roma trait upon both allies and opponents, amplifying his domain. His arsenal includes Nine Lives Roma, a martial style derived from Heracles, and the Anti-Star Noble Phantasm Per Aspera Ad Astra, which manifests the expansion of civilization into destructive or protective light. He also possesses Mores Necessariae, a bounded field Noble Phantasm that erupts defensive walls from the earth.
Background
Born to the war god Mars and the princess Silvia, Romulus founded Rome before ascending to heaven as the deity Quirinus. In the Olympus chapter of Fate/Grand Order, he was summoned as a Grand Lancer through a ritual prepared by fallen Servants, utilizing Caligula's body and Ares' divine spirit. By imbuing the concept of Rome, he counteracted Zeus' supreme divine authority, enabling Chaldea to defeat the machine gods. Although he faded after the battle, he relinquished his Grand status to become summonable by Chaldea as a standard Lancer.
Relationships
He holds deep trust in his Master, Fujimaru Ritsuka, treating them as his cherished child. He regards his mortal counterpart Romulus with contemplative respect. Recognizing Caligula's sacrifice as his physical vessel, he extends boundless affection toward Roman Servants like Nero Claudius and Julius Caesar. He honors Heracles as a fatherly paragon of strength, regards Altera as a sister figure owing to their shared connection to Mars, and solemnly accepts the vengeance of Boudica as his own burden.
Trivia
Romulus-Quirinus was designed by Koyama Hirokazu, with voice acting provided by Ryoutarou Okiayu, who also voices Gaius Julius Caesar. The thruster-like particle effects of his Third Ascension reflect both the sci-fi nature of the Olympian machine gods and the conceptual theme of humanity reaching into space. In official promotional gameplay footage, historic anti-Roman figures Spartacus and Boudica were featured as sample targets for his Noble Phantasm.
