Overview

Aesc, also known as the Rain Witch or Aesc the Savior, is a key character in Fate/Grand Order's Lostbelt No. 6, Avalon le Fae. Celebrated in the legends of Faerie Britain's Faerie Era, she traveled the land to subdue numerous calamities and protect its inhabitants. In truth, she is the younger form of Morgan le Fay, who later rules the Faerie Kingdom with absolute authority.

Appearance

Aesc closely resembles Artoria Caster's second ascension form. She features long blonde hair styled into a braid with hair bows, paired with blue eyes and round eyewear. She wears a distinctive witch hat adorned with a large rear bow, along with a white dress, robe, and fur-trimmed cloak with wide sleeves. Distinguishing visual details include black ribbons at her chest and capelet clasp, as well as a specific staff distinct from the Staff of Selection. She also wears gloves.

Personality

During her travels as a savior, Aesc was naturally good-natured, adventurous, and deeply compassionate, working selflessly to protect Britain and its people. However, repeated betrayals and persecution from the very fairies she saved gradually wore down her spirit. Centured by endless disillusionment, her gentle demeanor hardened into a cold, reserved, and demanding exterior as the Lostbelt Queen. Despite her formidable rule, she retains a strict sense of administrative fairness and harbors subtle, albeit awkwardly expressed, care for those closest to her.

Abilities

As a pure Faerie of Paradise, Aesc possesses Fairy Eyes that allow her to perceive underlying truths. In combat, she wields a specialized staff and formerly used the Spear of Selection, which was later sealed after her despair transformed it into a life-draining cursed weapon. Her magical talent is exceptionally high; she analyzed Chaldea's summoning system to conjure Wise Grim, replicated Rayshift technology for temporal transmission, and cast stasis magic to place a person into cold sleep for millennia. She can also project vast numbers of self-duplicates to single-handedly overwhelm large forces and perform sorcery that alters physical appearances and memories.

Background

Born as a Faerie of Paradise sent from Avalon to clean the sins of Britain, Aesc was adopted by the queen of the Rain Clan. After her clan was wiped out by rival fairies fearful of her lineage, she took the name Aesc from her adoptive mother and fled. Traveling alongside the Black Knight Ector and Totrot (Habetrot), she spent centuries subduing disasters. She strongly supported the human knight Uther to unify the realm with plans to become his queen. However, after Uther was poisoned by rebellious fairies who framed her, her shattered heart prompted her to abandon her original purpose. Inheriting memories from Pan-Human History's Morgan, she reshaped the realm into the Faerie Kingdom and crowned herself Queen.

Relationships

Aesc shares a parallel origin with Artoria Caster as a fellow Faerie of Paradise, acting as her senior counterpart. She shared a mutual affection with the human knight Uther, serving as his primary backer in unifying Britain. Upon meeting the time-displaced Mash Kyrielight, Aesc guided her through the era, imparted advice regarding combat conviction, and safely preserved her for the future. Her early travels were supported by her companions, the Black Knight Ector and Totrot (Habetrot), while in her later reign, she provided protective affection to her adopted daughter Baobhan Sith.

Trivia

The name "Aesc" derives from the Old English word for the ash tree, given to her in-universe by her adoptive mother from the Rain Clan. Her character visual design was created by Takashi Takeuchi. In promotional commercial animated sequences for Lostbelt No. 6, the character shown turning around in front of the Fantasy Tree is Aesc rather than Artoria Caster.
