Overview
Arash is an Archer-class Servant featured in TYPE-MOON's Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Blue and Silver and Fate/Grand Order. Originating from ancient Persian mythology, he is a legendary hero who served King Manuchehr, the last ruler of the Age of Gods in West Asia. Celebrated as the very personification of an archer in West Asian lore, he is portrayed as a noble champion who fights selflessly to protect the innocent.
Appearance
Arash is a well-built young man with short black hair, brown eyes, and dark, tanned skin. His attire includes armor and gloves, and he carries a distinctive large red bow as his primary equipment.
Personality
Arash possesses a friendly, dependable, and easygoing personality akin to a reliable elder brother. He prioritizes ending conflict and protecting lives over defeating enemies, consistently refusing to involve innocent bystanders in battle. Having carried every burden entirely on his own during his lifetime, he is deeply sensitive to individuals who isolate themselves with their troubles, often offering heartfelt advice to prevent them from walking a similarly lonely path. Despite receiving modern knowledge upon summoning, he retains a straightforward, sensory mindset, famously referring to automobiles as iron boxes and trains as iron dragons.
Abilities
Arash excels in extreme range, precision, and rapid fire. His Arrow Construction skill allows him to instantly craft arrows using his own magical energy, enabling continuous volleys. His high-rank Clairvoyance grants long-range targeting, enhanced dynamic vision, future prediction, and mind-reading capabilities. Furthermore, his Robustness skill provides exceptional physical damage reduction and poison resistance. His Noble Phantasm, Stella, is a devastating long-range shot reaching up to 2500 km that splits the earth; however, firing it causes his body to shatter, making it a powerful single-use attack that results in his death.
Background
In life, Arash served King Manuchehr during the tail end of the Age of Gods in ancient Persia. To end a tragic sixty-year conflict between Persia and Turan, he gathered all his life force into a single legendary shot, splitting the earth to establish a definitive border at the cost of his own life. In Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Blue and Silver, he is summoned by Elsa Saijou during the 1991 Tokyo Holy Grail War, forming a deep bond of mutual respect with her. In Fate/Grand Order, he appears in the Camelot Singularity as a stray Servant, defending refugee mountain villages alongside local allies and ultimately sacrificing himself to intercept a disastrous divine attack.
Relationships
During the Tokyo Holy Grail War, Arash developed a warm, trusting bond with his Master, Elsa Saijou, frequently sharing drinks with her while quietly supporting her emotional burdens. In Persian mythology, he received the wisdom of archery and crafting techniques from the goddess Spenta Armaiti, and he served King Manuchehr with unfaltering loyalty. In Fate/Grand Order, he forms a strong partnership with Hassan of the Cursed Arm, who considers Arash one of his most valued allies during their defense of the mountain villages against the forces of the Holy City.
Trivia
Arash's moniker, Arash Kamangir, translates to 'Arash the Archer,' reflecting how his very name became synonymous with archers in West Asian mythology. His favorite food is chickpea paste, and he dislikes fights where he cannot give his all. In Fate/Grand Order, his Noble Phantasm's unique mechanic of dealing massive damage while sacrificing himself to bring out reserve team members makes him an essential low-cost farming unit. This led fans to affectionately nickname him the 'Great Hero' and create the popular community running gag known as the 'Arash Protection Society.'
