Overview
Mary Anning is a Lancer-class Servant appearing in the mobile game Fate/Grand Order and its derivative series Learn Even More with Manga! Fate/Grand Order. Based on the historical English paleontologist and fossil collector, she is represented as an eccentric fossil dealer who utilizes ancient creatures and lightnings in battle.
Appearance
She wears European-style clothing paired with a white hat and a yellow scarf. Her purple hair is styled into braids, and she features sharp yellow eyes with slit pupils. She wears an ammonite hair accessory on the left side of her head and carries a giant wooden stake alongside a hammer.
Personality
She exhibits a crude, assertive demeanor and refers to herself with an informal tone. Deep down, she harbors a strong desire for recognition due to how her achievements were marginalized in life. She possesses a natural charisma that draws women to her and holds a particular disdain for biological dinosaurs.
Abilities
In battle, she strikes with her hammer and releases electric attacks. Her skills include Lily of the Sea's Charisma, which wins over surrounding women; Discovery of the Fossil Woman, which allows her to pinpoint target items; and Business Acumen, which facilitates persuasive negotiation. Her Noble Phantasm, Duria Antiquior, summons familiars of extinct species such as Plesiosaurus and Ichthyosaurus alongside her dog Tray to rush the enemy.
Background
Born in Lyme Regis, England, she gathered and sold fossils from a young age to support her family. At twelve years old, she gained attention by uncovering an ichthyosaur fossil, subsequently discovering numerous rare specimens. Although her contributions were largely unacknowledged by the male-dominated scientific community during her lifetime, her work was posthumously celebrated as foundational to paleontology.
Relationships
She shares a deep bond with her dog Tray, who accompanied her during her life and continues to act as her companion in her Servant form. She previously collected fossils with her brother, Joseph Anning. In her Servant encounters, she shows an intense admiration toward Artoria Pendragon.
Trivia
Her moniker Lightning Mary stems from a historical anecdote where she miraculously survived being struck by lightning as an infant, which inspires her electrical powers in battle.
