Overview
Avicebron is a Caster-class Servant featured in Fate/Apocrypha and Fate/Grand Order. His True Name is Solomon ibn Gabirol, an eleventh-century philosopher and poet recognized as the founder of Kabbalah magecraft. To avoid confusion with King Solomon, he adopts the name Avicebron. Specialized in the creation and command of golems, he seeks the Holy Grail to bring salvation to his suffering people and to realize his ultimate ambition of fashioning the primordial human, Adam.
Appearance
To conceal the severe skin condition that afflicted him during his lifetime, he conceals his entire body using a featureless mask lacking eye or mouth slits, paired with a blue cape and a skin-tight bodysuit. Beneath this attire, he possesses golden hair and green eyes. In certain stages of spiritual elevation, his mask sprouts horns and his form gains four arms.
Personality
Tormented by severe illness in life, he developed a pessimistic and misanthropic demeanor, yet he maintains a quiet, polite, and calm composure. Driven by deep religious faith rather than the typical magus pursuit of the Root, he harbors a child-like obsession with golemcraft. Although he initially acted with cold pragmatism regarding his goals, his past choices concerning his Master Roche Frain Yggdmillennia left him with deep guilt, fostering a desire to behave more ethically and connect with others.
Abilities
He is a specialist in golem construction and manipulation. Through Territory Creation, he constructs factories to mass-produce golems with power comparable to E-rank Servants using materials like earth, stone, wood, or ice. His Numerology and High-Speed Chanting skills allow him to rapidly issue complex orders to multiple units. His Noble Phantasm, Golem Kether Malkuth, is an autonomous reality marble modeled after Adam that requires a magus as its core; it wields an obsidian sword and continuously expands by drawing magic from the earth to transform the world into paradise. Upon his defeat, his skill Peaceful Fig grants invincibility and healing to remaining allies.
Background
In historical lore, he was an eleventh-century scholar who helped introduce philosophical concepts to Europe and formulated Kabbalah magecraft. In Fate/Apocrypha, he was summoned into the Black Faction and worked alongside his Master, Roche Frain Yggdmillennia, to construct his ultimate golem, though he ultimately used Roche as the living core required for its activation. In Fate/Grand Order, summoned in the Russian Lostbelt, he carries profound remorse over his past betrayal and willingly sacrifices himself to ensure the survival of Ritsuka Fujimaru and the Chaldea expedition.
Relationships
He was admired as a mentor by his Master, Roche Frain Yggdmillennia; though uncertain how to respond to affection, Avicebron respected the boy's talent before sacrificing him. Toward Ritsuka Fujimaru, he strives to be a trustworthy ally to atone for past errors. He shares a friendly rivalry with Odysseus over giant mechanical constructs, leading to mutual respect and collaboration on Noble Phantasm modifications. Additionally, he views Frankenstein as a near-perfect ideal of an artificial human and takes interest in Sieg.
Trivia
The name Avicebron was chosen for his Servant manifestation to prevent confusion with King Solomon. According to historical legend, a rival envious of his poetic talent murdered him and buried his body beneath a fig tree, but the extraordinary sweetness of the tree's fruit led locals to uncover the crime. He displays considerable fascination with modern robotics and technology, eagerly participating in mechanical research and organizing robot-themed contests among fellow Servants in Chaldea.
