Lobo
Hessian Lobo is an Avenger-class Servant appearing in Fate/Grand Order, initially introduced under titles such as the Avenger of Shinjuku. Because their individual existences were too weak to become proper Heroic Spirits, three Phantom Spirits were combined into a single entity: the giant wolf Lobo from real-world accounts, the Hessian headless horseman from American lore, and the fictional Invisible Man. Bound by an all-consuming hatred for humanity, this silent, monstrous entity acts with high intelligence and ferocity, refusing all dialogue with humans.
Overview
Hessian Lobo is an Avenger-class Servant appearing in Fate/Grand Order, initially introduced under titles such as the Avenger of Shinjuku. Because their individual existences were too weak to become proper Heroic Spirits, three Phantom Spirits were combined into a single entity: the giant wolf Lobo from real-world accounts, the Hessian headless horseman from American lore, and the fictional Invisible Man. Bound by an all-consuming hatred for humanity, this silent, monstrous entity acts with high intelligence and ferocity, refusing all dialogue with humans.
Appearance
The Servant is composed of a massive grey wolf exceeding three meters in length and a headless knight riding upon its back. The rider, a headless mercenary soldier, can reshape both of his arms into numerous scythe-like blades. The wolf itself possesses sharp teeth and claws. Additionally, they carry a physical invisibility attribute derived from chemical means that obscures their precise coordinates.
Personality
Driven purely by an intense hatred and resentment toward mankind, Hessian Lobo absolutely refuses to yield to humanity. Though completely silent and incapable of verbal communication, they are far from mere mindless beasts, possessing a high degree of intellect. They attack humans not out of a hunger for survival, but for the purpose of slaughter, ruthlessly destroying anyone who steps into their territory.
Abilities
Capable of reaching running speeds of up to 200 km/h, Hessian Lobo possesses skills such as Monstrous Strength to augment physical force, Fallen Demon to enhance defense and critical focus, and One Who Clothes Death, which strips enemy buffs while reducing their attack and instant-death resistance. They also possess abilities for communicating with animals and physical invisibility. Their Noble Phantasm, Frieren Scharfrichter, restrains the target using the rider's transformed scythe-like arms before the wolf severs the enemy's head with a scythe held in its jaws, ignoring evasion and dealing fatal damage.
Background
The wolf Lobo was a real-world grey wolf in North America that eluded hunters for years; after his mate Blanca was killed by humans using a trap, he fell into captivity himself and starved to death. The rider was an anonymous German mercenary hired by the British who lost his head to a cannonball and became a headless spirit wandering Sleepy Hollow. Brought together with the Invisible Man as a composite Servant during the Shinjuku anomaly, they aligned with the Phantom Demon Alliance to relentlessly terrorize humans.
Relationships
Lobo remains deeply tormented by the tragic loss of his beloved mate, the white wolf Blanca. Within the Shinjuku Singularity, they operated as part of the Phantom Demon Alliance alongside figures such as the Archer of Shinjuku, the Assassin of Shinjuku, EMIYA Alter, and the Phantom of the Opera. They maintain a fierce, unyielding hostility as an Avenger, refusing to easily reconcile even with their Master, Ritsuka Fujimaru.
Trivia
In the summer event Dead Heat Summer Escape, a mechanical security system called the 'DOG Police' created by Queen Medb appeared, heavily resembling Hessian Lobo with a police siren on the neck and a hat on the wolf. Within the player community, the wolf and rider are often humorously referred to separately as 'the dog' and 'the guy on top.'
