Overview
Metatron Jeanne is a Ruler-class Servant introduced in Fate/Grand Order during the Ordeal Call IV: Trinity Metatronius chapter. She is a Pseudo-Servant consisting of the holy maiden Jeanne d'Arc as a physical shell inhabited by the supreme archangel Metatron, a figure originating from Jewish and Christian mystical traditions. Serving as the presiding judge of Humanity's Trial within the Purgatory Singularity, she stands in judgment over whether proper human history possesses the right to be restored.
Appearance
Standing 153 cm tall and weighing 42 kg, she has blonde hair and golden eyes in the form of a young woman. Her visual design shifts across her ascensions, ranging from an earnest student-like attire wielding a writing pen, to a casual shut-in wrapped in a futon, and ultimately to a divine angelic form adorned with a crown, 49 gems, 365,000 radiant eyes, and 72 pairs of feathered wings.
Personality
Her personality changes drastically depending on her ascension phase. In her First Ascension, she exhibits the diligent, sharp demeanour of a class president, blended with a cheerful maidenlike nature. Her Second Ascension turns into a lazy, unmotivated shut-in dominated by sloth, yet remains surprisingly mild and rational. In her Third Ascension, she manifests as a cold, absolute executioner radiating divine authority; affected by human vice, she displays an arrogant and tyrannical disposition that rejects human history.
Abilities
Possessing the capabilities of a high-ranking divine entity, she commands powers such as spatial manifestation, automatic avoidance of curses and magic via her 72 names, and physical enlargement to exert overwhelming strength. Her throne creation grants her continuous energy supply. In combat, she strikes with divine light emitted by writing judgment, flame blasts, blizzard waves, and massive physical stamps. Her Noble Phantasms include Sainte-Flamme Pilier, a directional destruction laser, and Univers Immortel Metatron, which transforms her into her supreme angelic form to unleash massive attacks while healing allies.
Background
According to scriptures, the righteous Enoch, a seventh-generation descendant of Adam, was transformed into the archangel Metatron. In Fate/Grand Order, this archangel takes the body of France's holy maiden Jeanne d'Arc as a vessel. Appearing in Ordeal Call IV, she creates the Purgatory Singularity on the bleached Earth to conduct humanity's trial. Influenced by human emotions and the Seven Deadly Sins incorporated to comprehend mankind, she purges her own sloth into a separate persona and seeks to build a new human race rather than restoring proper human history, putting her at odds with Chaldea.
Relationships
Jeanne d'Arc is bewildered by seeing her own physical form act with extreme laziness. With her Master, Fujimaru Ritsuka, her separated Sloth persona forms a friendly cohabitation relationship. She attempts to recruit Mash Kyrielight into the Ruler class, while her interactions with prosecutor representative Gregory Rasputin spark intense rage when his provocations push her to breach sacred clerical boundaries. She also maintains complex rivalries and antagonisms with other Servants present in the singularity, such as Dante Alighieri, James Moriarty, and Amakusa Shirou.
Trivia
The name Metatron is often speculated to derive from the Greek word Metatronios, meaning one who serves beside the throne. Her lore regarding seventy-two distinct names is reflected in her specialized class skill. Within the game, her base Attack stat ranks among the highest of all Servants in the Ruler class.
