Overview
Sieg is the primary protagonist of Fate/Apocrypha. Originally created by the Yggdmillennia clan as an impersonal homunculus intended solely to function as a mana supply, he miraculously awakened to self-awareness and escaped his fate. After receiving part of his name from the heroic Servant who saved his life, he became actively involved in the Great Holy Grail War. He also appears as a Caster-class Servant in Fate/Grand Order.
Appearance
Sieg is a young boy with short grey hair featuring an ahoge and hair hanging between his eyes, along with red eyes. His standard attire consists of a long-sleeved white shirt underneath a black vest. He also possesses a tail. On his left hand, he bears a unique blue Command Spell known as Dead Count Shapeshifter, which leaves behind dark mark-like traces after being used.
Personality
Sieg possesses an innocent and earnest nature, coupled with a distinct lack of humor and a somewhat naive disposition. While his mental processing speed allows him to absorb general information and technical concepts quickly, he struggles to understand subtle emotional nuances. Because he rarely demonstrates overt emotion, he may appear detached, but in reality, he is simply unaccustomed to living as a conscious individual and deeply deliberates over his purpose and identity. He uses the masculine personal pronoun 'ore'.
Abilities
Sieg utilizes a specialized form of alchemy called Strasse/Gehen to analyze the structure of objects upon contact and disintegrate them by harmonizing opposing magical energy. Through the Dead Count Shapeshifter on his left hand, he can temporarily transform into the heroic spirit Siegfried for three minutes at the cost of his remaining lifespan, gaining access to the Noble Phantasms Balmung and Armor of Fafnir. His body also retains the power of Blasted Tree, allowing him to discharge powerful electrical attacks. In combat, he wields a slender sword gifted by the Rider of Black. In Fate/Grand Order, his Noble Phantasm Akafiloga Arglies allows him to briefly assume the form of the dragon Fafnir to unleash a searing breath attack.
Background
Created as a frail, nameless homunculus with a short lifespan, Sieg managed to break free from his containment tube when his magical circuits activated out of a sudden desire to live. Mortally injured during his initial escape attempt, he was saved when Saber of Black sacrificed his own life to transplant his heart into Sieg, stabilizing his body. Later, after being struck down in battle by Saber of Red, the lingering energy from Berserker of Black's Noble Phantasm revived him once more, triggering the unique Dead Count Shapeshifter mark. As he repeatedly transformed to fight in the Holy Grail War, the dragon's blood progressively altered his body, eventually causing him to permanently turn into the dragon Fafnir and carry the Greater Grail to the Reverse Side of the World.
Relationships
Sieg holds deep reverence for Siegfried, the Saber of Black, who sacrificed his heart to save Sieg's life and inspired his chosen name. He shares a powerful bond of friendship and trust with Astolfo, the Rider of Black, who rescued him from captivity and later contracted with him as his Servant. Throughout the Great Holy Grail War, he forms a deep emotional attachment to Jeanne d'Arc, the Ruler. He stands in direct opposition to Amakusa Shirou Tokisada as a primary adversary during the conflict.
Trivia
In Fate/Grand Order, Sieg is classified as a Caster, yet his command card deck distribution resembles that of a Saber class unit. Narrative lore establishes that using his unique Command Spells places immense physical strain on his body, accelerating his transformation into a dragon.
