Overview

Flora is an Alter Ego-class Servant introduced in Fate/Grand Order during the event Chaldean Floralia, having previously been mentioned by name in Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Sky Silver. Representing the Roman goddess of flowers, spring, and youth, she manifests as a soft-spoken young girl who embodies the pure spirit of loving and tending to plant life. Although she lacks complete memories of her divine past, she possesses broad authority over all flowers and serves as a supportive ally focused on nurturing living greenery.

Appearance

Flora appears as a young girl with pink-silver hair styled into a bud-like chignon and a monocle over her right eye. Her pupils are distinctly shaped like flowers. She wears a white frilled dress adorned with floral decorations across its fabric, paired with a maroon scarf draped over her shoulders. When channeling the authority entrusted by her close friend, her hair and outfit shift to a gray palette, with the floral ornaments transforming into a different, mysterious design.

Personality

Flora uses the first-person pronoun "watashi" and exhibits a gentle, modest, and soft-spoken personality free from divine arrogance due to her faint memories of the past. While usually reserved and lacking self-confidence, she becomes passionately enthusiastic when discussing flowers, often adopting a pushy demeanor. She generally feels affection toward humanity and appreciates those who care for nature. However, she harbors intense hostility toward acts that harm plant life, chemical agents that wither flora, and violent storms. When witnessing the mistreatment of flowers, her eyes lose their light as she unleashes terrifying divine fury.

Abilities

Flora specializes in the cultivation and growth of plant life rather than direct combat. She can manifest seeds and saplings of common plant species and holds domain over the concept of flowers. In battle, she flies on anemones to shower petals, swings gladiolus as blades, and utilizes giant dandelion fluff, acorns, and west winds. Her skills include Impregnating Flower, which endows life and physical stability, alongside supportive abilities that uplift those around her. Her primary Noble Phantasm, World's End Flower Garden, projects a Reality Marble containing every flower in existence. Through skill usage, she can transition to her alternate Noble Phantasm, Underworld Flower Garden, unleashing negative status effects and governing flora tied to the underworld.

Background

In Roman mythology, Flora is the goddess of flowers and spring, associated with the Greek nymph Chloris who was elevated to divinity by the west wind god Zephyrus. Within the Fate universe, her name first appeared in Fate/Prototype: Fragments of Sky Silver as the divine blessing granted to Lucius Tiberius's sword, Florent. She makes her full debut in Fate/Grand Order during the Chaldean Floralia event as an Alter Ego Servant. Despite having lost most of her divine memories, she establishes a contract with the Master, Fujimaru Ritsuka, and assists in cultivating flowerbeds within Chaldea.

Relationships

Flora is wed to Zephyrus, the west wind god, and maintains a close friendship with Proserpina (Persephone), the queen of the underworld, who entrusts Flora with managing her underworld garden while Proserpina resides on the surface. She affectionally regards Proserpina's mother, Demeter, as an aunt. She shares a warm bond with her Master, Fujimaru Ritsuka, collaborating on flowerbed projects at Chaldea. She reminds fellow paradise creators Merlin and Lady Avalon to properly maintain their floral environments, while making environmental requests to Karna and Indra for optimal sunlight and mild rain. Upon learning of Wu Zetian's historical burning of peonies, Flora initially reacted with anger, but keeps a watchful eye on her after learning the full context.

Trivia

Flora is the etymological root of the English word "floral." The ancient Roman festival held in her honor, the Floralia, continues to influence modern European flower celebrations. Her alternate Noble Phantasm, Underworld Flower Garden, reflects the historical evolution of the mythical paradise Elysium, which shifted over time from an island at the western edge of the world to a realm associated with the underworld.
