Overview
Gareth is a Servant appearing in the Fate series, serving as the seventh seat of the Knights of the Round Table. Born to King Lot and Morgan le Fay, she is the younger sister of Gawain, Gaheris, and Agravain, as well as the half-sister of Mordred. In Fate/Grand Order, she is summoned primarily under the Lancer class. Despite her small stature, she possesses unwavering dedication to chivalry and supports her Master, Fujimaru Ritsuka, with energetic enthusiasm.
Appearance
Gareth stands 153 cm tall and weighs 41 kg. She is a fair-skinned young girl with short blonde hair featuring black-tipped flared curls resembling puppy ears, complemented by green eyes and pink cheeks. Her skin is exceptionally pale and smooth, with notably delicate hands. In battle, she wears armor comprising a detachable helmet, breastplate, pauldrons, gauntlets, and boots over long sleeves and tights. Her equipment includes a heavy jousting lance, a shield, and a magic ring worn on her finger.
Personality
Gareth is earnest, polite, and deeply principled, combining high knightly ideals with an approachable, puppy-like charm. She takes immense pride in chivalry, showing no compromise when it comes to honor and proper decorum. Spirited and energetic, she frequently speaks with enthusiasm and uses slightly dated phrasing. She exhibits a surprisingly battle-ready mindset, regularly requesting jousting matches with fellow knights and Lancers. Having worked in castle kitchens, she is a talented cook, though her submissive acceptance of culinary advice often results in her preparing food in massive quantities.
Abilities
As a Lancer-class Servant, Gareth possesses parameters of Strength C, Endurance B, Agility A, Mana D, Luck D, and Noble Phantasm C. Alongside magic resistance that nullifies lower-tier spells, she exceptionally holds the Riding skill due to her jousting expertise, enabling her to command most conventional mounts. Her resilience grants her high battle continuation capabilities even under severe injury, and taking damage enhances her striking power. She carries a ring imbued with transformation magecraft, allowing her to alter her appearance. Her primary weapon is a jousting lance reinforced with multiple layers of Merlin's magecraft, serving as a Mystic Code equipped with energy cartridges. Her Noble Phantasm, Ira Lupus, is an Anti-Unit attack that condenses her lance technique into a fierce sequence of strikes followed by a fatal blow that bypasses enemy defenses.
Background
Gareth was born as the youngest child of King Lot and Morgan le Fay. Concealing her noble lineage, she initially entered Camelot working in the kitchen, where Sir Kay gave her the epithet Beaumains due to her fair hands. After completing her training, she was knighted by Sir Lancelot, whom she came to revere deeply, serving alongside him in numerous battles. During the political crisis surrounding Queen Guinevere, Gareth attended the queen's execution site unarmed and dressed in mourning to express her sorrow. Tragedy struck when Lancelot, charging in to rescue the queen, failed to recognize the unarmed Gareth in the chaos and inadvertently struck her down.
Relationships
Gareth yields total loyalty to her monarch, Artoria Pendragon. She is deeply doted upon by her eldest brother Gawain, and shares familial ties with her brothers Gaheris and Agravain, as well as her half-sibling Mordred. She held Sir Lancelot in the highest regard as her mentor and ideal knight, making her accidental death at his hands a source of mutual tragedy. She also maintains close bonds with Sir Kay, who assigned her kitchen duties in her youth, and Sir Percival, who influences her cooking habits.
Trivia
The name Beaumains originates from French meaning Beautiful Hands, a nickname given during her time working anonymously in the castle kitchen. While traditional Arthurian lore presents Gareth as a male knight, the Type-Moon setting interprets her as a young woman whose use of a transformation ring led to her being historically recorded as a man.
