Overview
Amaterasu, also known as Konjiki Hakumen, is a supreme Divine Spirit appearing in the Fate series, notably debuting in Fate/EXTRA CCC. Embodying the sun deity syncretized with Dainichi Nyorai and Amaterasu Omikami, she possesses nine massive tails and celestial magnitude. She serves as the original entity from which the Servant Tamamo-no-Mae (Caster) split as an alter ego.
Appearance
She features extraordinarily long pink hair tied into twintails with hair ribbons, yellow eyes, plush fox ears with interior ear fluff, and nine fluffy fox tails. Her overall silhouette closely resembles Tamamo-no-Mae, and she wears attire similar to Caster's Mythic Formal Wear.
Personality
Amaterasu possesses a cold and heartless temperament, capable of killing mortals on a mere whim. She speaks in an archaic, majestic tone fit for an ancient divinity. Although ruthless and distant toward human life, she displays a streak of amusement when confronted by the protagonist's surprisingly bold and foolish responses.
Abilities
As a high-ranking Divine Spirit, Amaterasu operates beyond conventional temporal limits, capable of manipulating time to pull individuals directly into her domain. A simple spoken word from her binds targets with crippling fear, and ordinary humans burn to ashes merely by entering her territory. Her power vastly outscales a fully restored nine-tailed Servant, granting her the potential capacity of a Beast.
Background
Existing since antiquity as the divine embodiment of the sun, she is identified with both Dainichi Nyorai and Amaterasu Omikami. Tamamo-no-Mae originated as a split avatar from this overwhelming divine entity, with the Tamamo Nine subsequently deriving from Tamamo. During Fate/EXTRA CCC, Amaterasu observes the protagonist interacting with Caster across temporal boundaries and brings the protagonist into her mausoleum.
Relationships
Tamamo-no-Mae (Caster) is an alter ego that split from Amaterasu's divine core, making Amaterasu the ultimate source of all Tamamo Nine entities. Toward the protagonist, Hakuno Kishinami, she maintains a superior stance but finds entertainment in their unexpected foolish bravery inside her realm.
Trivia
Her initial visual concept called for her to be covered entirely by her nine tails without regular clothing, though this design was revised to satisfy age-rating rules. Her underlying lore relies on the syncretic fusion of Shinto and Buddhist traditions.
