Equipped with a Minovsky Craft system, the machine achieves high-altitude flight capability despite its immense mass, allowing it to bypass ground defenses. Its primary armament consists of a massive mega particle cannon capable of carving through entire mountains. However, as an experimental vehicle testing weapon integration, it suffers from structural balance issues when firing its main gun. It also incorporates a self-destruct mechanism.
Background
Conceived as part of Zeon's confidential military initiative targeting the Earth Federation's Jaburo base, the Apsalus II was built by retrofitting a large mega particle cannon onto the unarmed test chassis of the Apsalus I. During performance evaluations at a desert testing ground in Southeast Asia, the unit was intercepted by the 08th MS Team of the Kojima Battalion. The ensuing battle with Shiro Amada's RX-79[G] Ground Type Gundam resulted in both machines crashing into an icy snow mountain. Although self-destructed during recovery operations to shield its technologies from nearby Federation forces, intelligence agents later analyzed the wreckage to uncover its true combat capabilities and operational objective.
Relationships
Rear Admiral Ginias Sahalin served as the chief developer who directed the secret construction of the unit. Aina Sahalin acted as its test pilot, conducting combat and flight evaluation tests. Shiro Amada, a Federation mobile suit pilot commanding a Ground Type Gundam, engaged the unit during its field test, leading to an intense confrontation that forced both machines to crash together on a snowy mountain.
Trivia
The design of the machine served as a direct bridge between the unarmed flight demonstrator Apsalus I and later developments. Although the unit was intentionally destroyed via self-destruction, Earth Federation intelligence successfully deduced its target and technical profile by analyzing the recovered wreckage.
