Daedalus

Daedalus is a Berserker-class Servant appearing in Fate/Grand Order. Famous in Greek mythology as a legendary craftsman, he is credited with inventing numerous marvels, including the famed Labyrinth. Because he lacks vocal functions, he travels alongside Naucrate, a self-made automaton who acts as his speech translator.

Overview

Daedalus is a Berserker-class Servant appearing in Fate/Grand Order. Famous in Greek mythology as a legendary craftsman, he is credited with inventing numerous marvels, including the famed Labyrinth. Driven by the philosophy that an artisan requires nothing beyond the hands that create, he discarded his physical body, manifesting solely as a standalone mechanical right arm. Because he lacks vocal functions, he travels alongside Naucrate, a self-made automaton who acts as his speech translator.

Appearance

Daedalus himself manifests purely as a heavy mechanical right arm imbued with red electricity. He is carried around by Naucrate, a small android girl designed with long white hair, hair falling between her yellow glowing eyes, and a hairband featuring a light bulb ornament. She wears a sleeveless white dress with bare shoulders, white thighhighs, and boots. Her body displays visible doll joints, exposed gears, and a bandaid.

Personality

Daedalus is an extremely abrasive and proud artisan who believes true creators communicate through their work rather than words. He displays blatant meanness toward others, famously making offensive hand gestures upon meeting new people. Naucrate mirrors his hostility; despite speaking in a polite register, her phrasing is frequently rude and exaggerated. Beneath his rough demeanor, Daedalus is burdened by deep regret over failing to craft proper wings for his son.

Abilities

Though lacking magical knowledge, Daedalus possesses incredible crafting abilities, enabling him to build complex machinery and structures instantly if supplied with materials. In battle, he commands autonomous units, sets traps, and triggers devices such as falling spiked balls, spears, and circular saws. He can also attach to Naucrate as her right arm to deliver punch attacks empowered by red lightning. Additionally, he retains an unspecified Noble Phantasm that supplies raw materials.

Background

Originally a celebrated inventor in Athens, Daedalus was exiled following a crime and sought refuge in Crete. Under King Minos, he created the Labyrinth and various inventions, but he and his son Icarus were eventually imprisoned in the maze. Although they escaped using wings constructed from bird feathers and beeswax, Icarus flew too close to the sun and plummeted to his death. In the Mystery House Crafters singularity, Daedalus was summoned to oversee major expansion projects.

Relationships

He remains haunted by remorse regarding his son Icarus. He harbors intense hatred toward King Minos, blaming him for the circumstances that led to Icarus's demise. Daedalus is closely tied to Asterios, having crafted the Labyrinth that bound him as well as the wooden cow used by Pasiphaë. During the singularity events, he carried out structural modifications based on concepts provided by Ishtar.

Trivia

Daedalus holds the distinction of being the first Servant to manifest strictly as a isolated body part rather than a full humanoid frame. The light signals he emits cannot be translated by Chaldea's communication systems. His in-game battle sprite is unique in that it is never mirrored horizontally, ensuring his identity as a right arm remains consistent.
