Overview
The Dilanza is a mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury. Developed by Jeturk Heavy Machinery, one of the three major companies in the Benerit Group, it serves as a versatile unit for Jeturk House and general usage. Carrying the model number MD-0031, it combines high power output with a heavy, bulky frame, utilizing hover propulsion for surprisingly rapid movement.
Appearance
The Dilanza is a heavy-armored mobile suit characterized by its massive, bulky silhouette. Standard units feature a blue-green and dark grey color scheme. Guel Jeturk's custom unit (MD-0032G) is painted in magenta and features a prominent feather ornament on its blade antenna. Lauda Neill's custom unit (MD-0031L) retains the standard coloration but is equipped with round specialized shields on both shoulders. The Langlands company specification recolors the blue-green areas to white and the dark grey parts to gold. Under terrestrial gravity, it operates alongside the Tickbalang sub-flight system.
Abilities
Designed with expandable features in mind, the Dilanza offers exceptional versatility and customization options. Despite its heavy frame, its hover-propulsion system enables fast-paced ground movement. It possesses robust structural defense, capable of enduring several direct hits from combat-grade beam weaponry.
Its fixed armament consists of two rapid-fire beam vulcans mounted in the chest. standard handheld equipment includes a multi-mode beam rifle and a broad-bladed beam torch, both of which can be stored under the shoulder shield's weapon rack.
Specialized and optional equipment includes:
Fire-extinguishing gel launcher: Fires gel capsules that coat target suits to extinguish fires, cool components, and prevent explosions.
Beam Partisan: Guel's custom long-handled polearm, generating a high-convergence beam edge across a broad area.
Spike Shield: Twin shoulder shields for Guel's unit equipped with offensive spikes.
Large Heat Axe: A thick, heavy heat-blade weapon utilized by Lauda's custom unit, large enough to serve as an improvised shield.
Background
The suit is extensively utilized in duels and practical encounters at the Asticassia School of Technology. In the premiere episode, Guel Jeturk pilots his custom unit to easily suppress Miorine Rembran inside the Gundam Aerial, but is subsequently defeated when Suletta Mercury intervenes and disembowels the machine using GUND-Bits. Lauda Neill's unit was commandeered by Guel during a duel against Elan Ceres's Gundam Pharact, and was later piloted by Lauda himself during the Rumble Ring. Standard units piloted by Felsi Rollo and others served key defensive and rescue roles during school attacks and the Quiet Zero confrontation.
Relationships
The machine is closely tied to the pilots of Jeturk House. Guel Jeturk piloted his magenta custom unit against Suletta Mercury's Gundam Aerial, and borrowed Lauda Neill's custom machine when dueling Elan Ceres's Gundam Pharact. Felsi Rollo piloted a standard unit, collaborating with Chuatury Panlunch's Demi Barding to protect fellow students and using a gel launcher to rescue Guel from a fatal explosion.
Trivia
The machine was designed by mechanical artist Ippei Gyoubu. According to Gyoubu, the blade antennas were designed around specific concepts: the standard unit resembles a flag, Lauda's unit a car bonnet mascot, and Guel's unit a trophy. In Bandai's 1/144 High Grade Gunpla lineup, Guel's custom machine, the standard unit (buildable as Lauda's version), and the Dilanza Sol have all been released as model kits.
