Overview

Faldeus Dioland is a magus featured in Fate/strange Fake. Attached to a governmental organization in the United States, he acts as one of the central conspirators who engineered the Holy Grail War in Snowfield. He initially infiltrated the Clock Tower while posing as an apprentice to the magus Rohngall, but dropped his facade once preparation was complete to assume control of the operation. Driven by fierce patriotism, he participates in the conflict as the Master of True Assassin.

Appearance

Faldeus is a young man who appears to be in his mid-twenties. While specific individual visual traits are minimally detailed in the record, he transitions between civilian attire and operational equipment suitable for directing combat operations.

Personality

Faldeus presents himself with a polite demeanor, yet he is grounded in unshakeable patriotism for the United States. He views magecraft merely as an operational skill, harboring disdain for traditional magi who treat magecraft as the universe's absolute center. Though initially appearing as a calculated mastermind, he quickly finds himself overwhelmed by unpredictable variables and the rampant actions of other participants, forcing him into the constant role of an exhausted troubleshooter. He remains indifferent to how others perceive him, even adopting the tactical codename Livestock.

Abilities

While his raw prowess as a magus is rated modest by traditional standards, he excels in intelligence gathering and clandestine operations. He operates a workshop that integrates magic with modern tech, maintaining a comprehensive surveillance system over the area. Rather than relying solely on magecraft, he employs practical tactics, demonstrating lethal skill with a survival knife and commanding a heavily armed unit of soldiers to eliminate obstacles.

Background

Born into a lineage of puppet-making magi related to a participant of the Third Holy Grail War in Fuyuki, his family preserved records of that conflict. While his relatives hesitated to act on this dangerous knowledge, his grandfather partnered with US politicians and military officials to replicate the system, a project finalized during his father's time. After infiltrating the Clock Tower under Rohngall, Faldeus betrayed his master once the Snowfield setup reached fruition, moving his command post to a subterranean facility beneath a local detention center.

Relationships

He studied under Rohngall before turning on and executing him at the launch of his plan. As a Master, he maintains a tense relationship with True Assassin, who constantly tests his resolve. Aldra serves as his personal secretary handling communications. While aligned with Orlando Reeve and Francesca in instigating the conflict, he shares no mutual trust with them. His connection with Sigma is strictly transactional.

Trivia

His assessments of famous historical magi and powerful mystic codes occasionally suffer from inaccurate intelligence or flawed assumptions. Conversely, his information regarding Touko Aozaki and the nature of her masterwork puppets is remarkably precise.
