Overview
The VGMM-Gb03 Gaeon is a mobile suit featured in Gundam Reconguista in G. Developed at the G-IT Laboratory located in the Venus Globe space colony, it is a G-type commander machine piloted by Kia Mbeki, the laboratory's head of technology preservation.
Appearance
The Gaeon features horn-like antennas on its head. Rather than twin eyes, its facial structure consists of a sensor display screen that shows varied expressions depending on the situation. Mounted on its back is a massive multi-purpose backpack designed to resemble a pair of oversized hands with a total of eight fingers.
Abilities
Powered by a high-performance photon battery, the Gaeon possesses high energy output and advanced processing capabilities to control remote weaponry. Its head houses photon lasers that fire photon energy, while its hand-held beam rifle offers tight beam convergence and can be operated with one hand. The back-mounted Big Arm Unit provides defensive cover, acts as a flight stabilizer, and vents excess output. Each finger segment features beam sabers and beam cannons at the tips, and can be detached as Sword Funnels for all-range combat. The mobile suit can also dock directly into the center of the massive mobile armor Conque de Venus to control it.
Background
Built using preserved and refined Universal Century technologies, the Gaeon was designed as a high-performance base machine built around its backpack unit. During a battle against the Megafauna crew near Venus Globe, the Gaeon engaged Bellri Zenam's G-Self. When the fighting unintentionally punctured the floor of the Sea Desk colony segment, pilot Kia Mbeki chose to sink the Gaeon along with the Conque de Venus to plug the breach.
Relationships
The machine is assigned to Kia Mbeki. Designed as a commander unit serving as the 'king' piece alongside the Justima and Jitrip, it is designated to protect the larger Girod. In battle, it crosses swords with Bellri Zenam's G-Self.
Trivia
The mecha was designed by Ippei Gyoubu. In the game Super Robot Wars X, the unit can be unlocked as a secret playable suit alongside its pilot by satisfying specific stage requirements.
