Overview
Huwawa, also known as True Berserker, is a Servant appearing in Fate/strange Fake. Summoned by the dark mage Haruri Borzak in the Snowfield Holy Grail War, Huwawa originates from Mesopotamian mythology as the guardian of the Cedar Forest. Once serving as the first companion and surrogate parent to Enkidu, the entity manifests in modern times not as a typical Heroic Spirit, but as a grotesque mechanical beast reflecting the disastrous aspects of human civilization.
Appearance
Huwawa possesses an amorphous body whose physical size and mass increase in proportion to its internal magical power. Its summoned form resembles a mechanical doll with a lion-like head or a quadrupedal spider-like monster, featuring front legs structured similarly to human hands. Suspended behind it is a glowing seven-colored halo. Depending on elapsed time or its Master's will, it assimilates surrounding machinery and rubble to enlarge its body, brandishing cables and wires like tentacles. In life, it was recorded as a creature with large claws.
Personality
Driven to madness by its Class Skill and inherent nature, Huwawa lacks coherent speech and complex reasoning, communicating through fragmented symbols, broken language, and roars of pure rancor. Beneath its violent shell lies a tragic amalgamation of nearly three thousand children's souls created by the gods, among which only a single girl's consciousness initially maintained sanity before being consumed by madness. Although its initial frenzy caused severe injury to its Master, Haruri Borzak, a residual instinct to protect her still endures within its mind.
Abilities
Huwawa utilizes optical camouflage to conceal its physical appearance, sound, and magical footprint. It spews fierce flames from its maw and emits powerful shockwaves from its right arm structure. By absorbing surrounding machinery, it expands its size and strikes with cable-like tentacles. Through its seven-colored halo, its Mana Burst (Disaster) Skill projects concentrated energies of disasters—such as floods, heatwaves, freezing ice walls, fire tornadoes, and plagues—capable of destroying city blocks or intercepting missiles from over fifty kilometers away. It also unleashes a terrifying roar that instills primal fear and possesses a Skill that raises its parameters while guarding a specific location.
Background
Created in ancient Mesopotamia by the gods as an artificial construct formed from the souls of roughly three thousand children, Huwawa was assigned by Enlil to guard the Lebanon Cedar Forest. In that era, it served as the first friend and parental figure to the newly created Enkidu, teaching the clay doll emotion and awareness, before eventually being slain in battle by Gilgamesh and Enkidu. In the Snowfield Holy Grail War, Haruri Borzak summoned Huwawa beneath a thermal power station using a Mazda lamp as a catalyst. Immediate frenzy led it to attack its summoner, but it was subsequently subjugated by Fillia, who was possessed by Ishtar, and deployed as her combat pawn.
Relationships
Haruri Borzak is Huwawa's Master, toward whom Huwawa maintains a persistent desire to protect despite causing her severe injury upon summoning. Fillia, under the possession of Ishtar, subjugated Huwawa, invoking deep terror in the beast while using it as a puppet. Enkidu was Huwawa's former ward and companion in antiquity, a relationship that ended in fatal combat and leaves enduring sorrow in Enkidu. Gilgamesh is the ancient king who defeated Huwawa alongside Enkidu, yet remains vulnerable to the primal dread Huwawa inflicts. The deities Utu and Enlil stand as its divine creators and taskmasters.
Trivia
The use of a Mazda lamp as a summoning catalyst, combined with its view of modern human technology as a form of disaster, resulted in Huwawa manifesting as a mechanical beast rather than a traditional organic monster. It was previously referenced under the name Humbaba in Gilgamesh's Secret Garden in Fate/EXTRA CCC. In Fate/Grand Order, during Enkidu's Interlude, fragments of Huwawa's amalgamated soul appear inside a simulator anomaly as hostile entities designated with the name Human.
