Kergerenko

Overview

Kergerenko, officially listed simply as "Military Woman," is an unnamed Principality of Zeon operator appearing in Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team and related video games. Derived from her presumed assignment aboard the cruiser Kerguelen, her popular fan-given moniker has made her one of the most recognizable background characters in the Gundam franchise.

Appearance

She is depicted with long dark blue hair accented by a hairband, brown eyes, and wears a standard Zeon military uniform with rank insignia indicating the rank of Corporal.

Personality

Due to her brief screen time, her distinct personality remains largely unelaborated, though she is portrayed as a professional and dutiful military operator.

Abilities

She possesses standard communications skills as a military operator for the Zeon forces, responsible for relaying signals and managing communications.

Background

She makes a brief two-shot appearance in Episode 10 of the OVA series, relaying a signal from Norris Packard to Aina Sahalin. Although the cruiser Kerguelen was destroyed by a GM Sniper in the anime, leading to her presumed death, alternate media altered her fate: the novel adaptation depicts the ship escaping to space, while the game Mobile Suit Gundam Senki: Lost War Chronicles establishes that she was miraculously rescued by the Zeon Foreign Legion. She subsequently serves as an operator in games such as Zeonic Front.

Relationships

In her initial animated appearance, she receives a signal sent by Norris Packard and relays it to Aina Sahalin. In the game Zeonic Front, she acts as an operator assisting Charlotte Hepner through the end of the war.

Trivia

Despite being an anonymous generic soldier in her original appearance, her distinctive character design gained a strong fan following, prompting game developers to frequently reuse her visual design as a guest operator.
