Tatsumi is a gentle, upright young man driven by a modest yet strong sense of justice. Lacking the ruthless pragmatism or combat capabilities of a traditional magus, he is thoroughly average in academics and sports, yet possesses a deep desire to protect his friends and hometown. He demonstrates compassion even toward hostile individuals on the battlefield, earning praise from Caster for his noble spirit.
Abilities
His Magic Circuits are rated as Quality C, Quantity E, and Normal Composition. His right eye houses a Mystic Eye of Biological Manipulation, which immobilizes any living creature within his field of vision. Before realizing his power, this manifested when animals observed through his camera viewfinder froze for unusually long periods. However, targets with knowledge of magecraft can potentially resist its effects.
Background
Originally from Hiroshima, Tatsumi moved to Setagaya to live independently while preparing for university entrance exams. His ordinary life of reading and birdwatching changed when he inadvertently summoned Berserker using his late grandfather's notebook. Motivated to prevent civilian casualties, he sought to halt the Holy Grail War and confronted rival Master Elsa Saijou in Akihabara. However, his reluctance to harm a young girl led to his death at the hands of Assassin, after which his remains were transformed into a ghoul by Caster.
Relationships
He forms a bond of mutual respect and friendship with his Servant, Henry Jekyll & Hyde (Berserker), in whom he sees the memory of his deceased grandfather. Upon encountering enemy Master Elsa Saijou, he immobilizes her with his Mystic Eye to convey his wish to end the war. His hesitation to attack Assassin (Hassan of Serenity) due to her youthful appearance results in his murder, and his corpse is subsequently used by Paracelsus von Hohenheim (Caster). Back home in Hiroshima, he has a younger sister named Kitano Tamaki.
Trivia
Because he fights with pure heroic intentions while lacking supernatural combat ability or plot armor, fans often describe him as a 'protagonist without plot armor.' According to his younger sister Tamaki, he was notably clumsy when cooking, often struggling to flip items like okonomiyaki or grilled fish.
