Overview
The LaGOWE (TMF/A-803) is a terrestrial Mobile Suit belonging to ZAFT, featured in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED and its related works. Developed as an upgraded, commander-use variant based on the quadrupedal BuCUE, it was produced in limited numbers. Its primary pilots are Andrew Waltfeld and Aisha.
Appearance
The machine features a quadrupedal, beast-like design that is one size larger than the standard BuCUE. It incorporates a green eye display and mechanical wing components, with weapon systems integrated into its head, back turret, and legs.
Abilities
Equipped with standard beam weaponry, the LaGOWE carries a double-barreled beam cannon on its rear turret, a dual beam saber in its head module, and claws on each leg. It utilizes a tandem two-seater cockpit housing a front gunner and a rear main pilot, enabling high-mobility artillery tactics integrated with close-quarters combat.
Background
Introduced alongside ZAFT's third-generation Mobile Suits during the fall of the Kaohsiung Spaceport, the LaGOWE was developed using data from Andrew Waltfeld's custom BuCUE and technology adapted from captured Earth Alliance units. It was deployed in battle during ground campaigns in desert environments.
Relationships
The machine is operated jointly by Andrew Waltfeld as the primary pilot and Aisha as the gunner. It serves as an upgraded successor to the BuCUE, with specialized variants such as the high-mobility LaGOWE High Maneuver.
Trivia
The name LaGOWE is derived from Rahu of Hindu astrology. Conceptually, it shares its name with an antagonist unit from an earlier anime series directed by Mitsuo Fukuda.
