Appearance
The suit heavily reshapes the Re-GZ into a linear design with a V-fin and green or aqua-colored eyes, retaining only subtle elements such as knee guards and rear leg sliding thrusters. ReZEL-type high-performance sensors are mounted on both shoulders. Multiple 3mm round hardpoints are positioned across the body to attach equipment and option parts.

The Lightning Gundam functions with a highly calculated and methodical combat approach, prioritizing distance, tactical flexibility, and reliable support over reckless close-quarters engagements.
Abilities
Equipped for long-range engagements, its primary Beam Rifle operates around a modular Handgun and can be converted into a long-barrel sniper rifle. Long-range shots are stabilized by connecting the rifle stock to the shoulder sensors and using the compact Shield as a bipod. Close-range defense relies on head-mounted Vulcans and side-skirt Beam Sabers. Left-arm and shield-integrated Beam Vulcans handle suppression and missile interception.
The Lightning Back Weapon System (L.B.W.S.) acts as a backpack, a transformation unit for flight mode, or an independent support craft armed with a beam gun, beam cannons, or missile pods. Combining with parts from the Winning Gundam enables the powerful Winning Launcher.
Background
Built by Kousaka Yuuma, the machine debuted by winning top honors at the Artistic Gunpla Contest before entering active battle under Team Try Fighters. Throughout various competitions, it underwent key upgrades, evolving into the Full Burnern form with the L.B.W.S. Mk-II and later the high-mobility Strider form utilizing the Mk-III system. Meijin Kawaguchi also piloted the suit on occasion.

Trivia
The name 'Lightning' derives from the English word for electrical discharge. Design-wise, its sharp silhouette draws visual cues back to the Z Gundam, the predecessor of the Re-GZ. In real-world merchandise, it was released in the 1/144 HGBF line with an entirely new mold separate from older Re-GZ kits, while its BWS units were made available in the HGBC option series.
