Overview

The D-50C Loto is a transformable mobile suit featured in Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn. Operated by ECOAS, the special operations unit of the Earth Federation Forces, it was developed by the Strategic Naval Research Institute. Significantly smaller than conventional mobile suits, it can transform into a tank mode to serve as a mobile command post and support troop mobility on the battlefield.

Appearance

The Loto stands at 12.2 meters in mobile suit mode, reducing to a height of 9.66 meters in its alternative form, with a tank-mode width of 5.78 meters. It features a compact, utilitarian, and boxy chassis equipped with treads for ground movement. Instead of a humanlike head, it utilizes a sensor-heavy turret, and its upper structure is fitted with hardpoints for shoulder-mounted weaponry.

Abilities

The Loto possesses a transformation mechanism that shifts between a mobile suit and a tank form. It functions as an operational command hub thanks to its suite of advanced sensors and communication equipment. Furthermore, its chassis is designed to accommodate and transport infantry units directly into mission areas.

Background

Deployed exclusively to the Earth Federation's ECOAS task force, the Loto was piloted by officers such as Daguza Mackle and Conroy Haagensen. Designed by the Strategic Naval Research Institute, the operational data and miniaturization concepts gathered from the Loto served as a vital foundation for the development of future downsized mobile suits.

Relationships

Lieutenant Commander Daguza Mackle and Major Conroy Haagensen are notable pilots assigned to operate the Loto within the ECOAS special forces unit.

Trivia

Within Universal Century lore, the Loto is recognized as an early milestone in the Strategic Naval Research Institute's (SNRI) miniaturization initiative, paving the way for the smaller mobile suit designs seen in later eras like Mobile Suit Gundam F91.
