Nahel Argama

The Nahel Argama is a space assault landing ship featured in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ and Mobile Suit Gundam UC. Constructed by Anaheim Electronics as a successor to the original Argama, it initially served as the flagship for the AEUG before being transferred to the Earth Federation's Londo Bell unit. Measuring 380 meters in length, the warship is renowned for its immense firepower and advanced mobile suit launch capabilities. Because no sister ships were produced, it was primarily deployed as an independent standalone vessel under captains such as Bright Noa and Otto Mitas.

Overview

Appearance

Measuring 380 meters in total length, the Nahel Argama features five forward launch catapults—three upper and two lower—alongside a single landing deck at the rear. Its catapult decks are equipped with blast deflectors or barricade-like mechanisms. The overall silhouette resembles the White Base, particularly in its central wing span and bridge radar setup, earning it the derogatory label 'wooden horse knockoff' from Neo Zeon forces. Following a major modernization, its propulsion area was altered to resemble the Clop-class, and its damaged left-port catapult deck was left un-repaired during later operations.

Abilities

The vessel's armaments include a primary Hyper Mega Particle Cannon, sub-mega particle cannons, twin mega particle cannons, single beam guns, and anti-aircraft guns, overcoming the firepower limitations of the original Argama. The Hyper Mega Particle Cannon possesses enough destruction capability to vaporize colony debris in a single blast. Advanced automation allows effective operation with a small crew. Its five catapults enable the simultaneous launch of the ZZ Gundam's three separated components (Core Fighter, Core Top, and Core Base). It can also perform coordinated long-range targeting through data linking with an EWAC Jegan.

Background

Completed in U.C. 0088 during the First Neo Zeon War, the Nahel Argama served as the mobile headquarters for Judau Ashta and the Gundam Team under Captain Bright Noa, with Beecha Oleg acting as captain in Bright's absence. After the conflict, it was assigned as the initial flagship of the Londo Bell unit before passing that role to the Ra Cailum. Due to its unique specifications, it operated mainly as an independent warship. Modernized prior to the Laplace Incident, it engaged the Sleeves under Captain Otto Mitas, successfully sinking and disabling enemy Endra-class and Musaka-class cruisers with tactical guidance from Suberoa Zinnerman.

Relationships

During the First Neo Zeon War, Bright Noa served as its captain, with Beecha Oleg acting in his stead, housing Judau Ashta and the Gundam Team. In the Laplace Incident, Captain Otto Mitas commanded the ship, later taking former enemy officer Suberoa Zinnerman aboard as gunnery chief and tactical advisor. Opponents such as Full Frontal and the Sleeves faction recognized its resemblance to the historic White Base, mockingly referring to it while remaining cautious of its power.

Trivia

The name 'Nahel Argama' translates to 'something close to Argama.' Its original mechanical design was created by Mika Akitaka, while its modernized configuration in Mobile Suit Gundam UC was designed by Hajime Katoki. In video games such as the SD Gundam G Generation and Super Robot Wars series, it frequently appears as a reliable flagship bridging the gap between the Argama and the Ra Cailum, often recognized for its powerful MAP weaponry.
