R-Gyagya
The R-Gyagya is a custom Gunpla from Gundam Build Fighters Try, built and piloted by Kaoruko Sazaki. Based on the AMX-104 R-Jarja from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, the machine heavily incorporates the design philosophy of the YMS-15 Gyan. It is customized as a dedicated close-quarters combat unit that balances powerful defensive armor with knight-like melee proficiency.
Overview
The R-Gyagya is a custom Gunpla from Gundam Build Fighters Try, built and piloted by Kaoruko Sazaki. Based on the AMX-104 R-Jarja from Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ, the machine heavily incorporates the design philosophy of the YMS-15 Gyan. It is customized as a dedicated close-quarters combat unit that balances powerful defensive armor with knight-like melee proficiency.
Appearance
The unit features a single mono-eye sensor. Its overall silhouette resembles medieval knight armor, modified from the base R-Jarja to closer emulate the design of the Gyan. The machine's primary coloration is changed from vermilion to a main silver armor scheme accented with gold detailing. Two large shields are mounted on flexible sub-arms positioned at both shoulders.
Abilities
For close-range combat, its primary armaments are the Twin Beam Sword—a double-ended beam naginata fitted with a small buckler—and a scabbard-sheathed beam saber. The variable shields on its shoulders house built-in Gatling guns and internal missiles. Mounted via sub-arms with handheld grips, these shields double as boosters and feature beam cutters along their outer rims. The shields possess exceptional durability capable of absorbing heavy impacts without damage, allowing for effective shield bashes against heavy mobile suits and thrown boomerang attacks with active beam blades.
Background
This Gunpla was crafted by Kaoruko Sazaki, who inherited her older brother Susumu Sazaki's passion for Gyan-type mobile suits and his guiding spirit of the 'shield soul.' Taking advantage of the R-Jarja's canonical status as a successor to the Gyan, she applied unique modifications to heighten its knight-like close-combat role.
Relationships
The machine is built and piloted by Kaoruko Sazaki. It strongly reflects the influence of her older brother, Susumu Sazaki, who personally manufactured the custom double shields equipped on its shoulders. Its design roots trace back to the YMS-15 Gyan and its immediate modification base, the AMX-104 R-Jarja.
Trivia
The mecha design was drawn by Kanetake Ebikawa. When flicked with a finger, the machine's surface armor emits a unique metallic ring comparable to a Northern Song dynasty vase rather than standard plastic. In the High Grade Gunpla line, the R-Gyagya was released as a commercial model kit prior to the base R-Jarja kit.
