Appearance
The Ra Cailum is a massive warship with an overall length of 487 meters and a width of 165 meters. Its primary armament includes multiple twin mega particle cannon turrets mounted on the lower bow, upper mid-fore section, and upper aft deck, with an extra turret added beneath the stern landing deck in later configurations. The hull is armed with six missile launchers at the bow, one at the stern, and 22 twin anti-aircraft gun mounts.
Abilities
The ship is equipped with substantial firepower, combining twin mega particle cannons with bow and stern missile launchers and 22 twin anti-aircraft turrets. During the Second Neo Zeon War, it was outfitted to fire nuclear missiles. In U.C. 0096, the integration of an updated Minovsky Craft system granted the vessel full operational capability within Earth's atmosphere under gravity. By U.C. 0105, an added beam barrier enabled the warship to perform atmospheric re-entry.
Background
Commissioned as the lead ship of its class, the Ra Cailum became the central flagship of the Londo Bell task force. During the Second Neo Zeon War in U.C. 0093, under the leadership of Bright Noa, the ship engaged in critical operations to stop the drop of Axis onto Earth. By U.C. 0096, it underwent refitting at the Sasebo facility to incorporate Minovsky Craft technology for atmospheric deployment, remaining an active asset through the events of the Mafty Uprising in U.C. 0105.
Relationships
The vessel is commanded by Captain Bright Noa, who also serves as the commander of the Londo Bell unit. Its crew and attached personnel include high-profile pilots and crew members such as Amuro Ray, Astonage Medesso, Chan Agi, Kayra Su, and Hathaway Noa.
Trivia
In the Super Robot Wars series, the vessel's in-game combat effectiveness varies widely depending on the title, ranging from carrying powerful nuclear weaponry to serving as a dedicated support flagship. In Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden, it appears unusually as an excavated relic in a future world. In the SD Gundam G Generation series, it is typically categorized as an all-terrain battleship capable of high-performance mobile suit deployment.
