Overview

A character in Fate/Apocrypha and the Master of Assassin of "Black" (Jack the Ripper). She is the sole Master within the Black faction who does not belong to the Yggdmillennia clan, and is an ordinary woman with no magus heritage or magical talent. Originally working as a prostitute in Shinjuku, she enters the Holy Grail War to fulfill the wish of her Servant, whom she cherishes as her own daughter. Despite her lack of supernatural abilities, her eerie calmness and ruthless focus make her a formidably effective Master.

Appearance

Reika is a woman with long ash-green hair and red eyes. She carries a melancholic yet subtle, bewitching aura in her countenance. Her attire features a strapless or off-the-shoulder dress that leaves her shoulders and collarbone exposed, complemented by jewelry and a fur-trimmed coat.

Personality

Reika possesses a quiet, somewhat dreamy demeanor, yet harbors a chilling detachment behind her eyes. Having lived a life of constant exploitation, she lacks a conventional moral compass, demonstrating little regard for her own life or the lives of others. She experiences no hesitation when resorting to violence and remains completely unperturbed by gruesome carnage. However, toward Jack the Ripper, she displays profound and genuine maternal affection, prioritizing her Servant's happiness and wish above all else.

Abilities

Although she is an ordinary human with no magical circuits or formal combat training, Reika exhibits extraordinary tactical sharpness, keen intuition, and a profound capacity for observation. She possesses remarkable pain tolerance and willpower, demonstrated when she voluntarily endured exposure to corrosive acid mist to execute a point-blank assassination attempt. Despite having never handled firearms prior to arriving in Romania, she quickly adapted to operating a compact Rhino revolver with chilling proficiency. Additionally, her early upbringing left her fluent in multiple languages—including Latin, English, and Romanian—and capable of playing the piano.

Background

Reika was raised in an affluent household where she received a refined education until the age of fifteen, when her parents died in an accident. Relatives dissipated the family fortune, and she was placed into an adoptive home where she endured severe abuse. She eventually ended up in Shinjuku working as a prostitute, where the magus Sagara Hyouma placed her under mental suggestion to use her as a sacrifice for summoning Jack the Ripper. Faced with imminent death, her fierce desire to survive inadvertently bound her to Jack. After taking Hyouma's Command Seals, Reika chose to travel to Romania and fight in the Grail War solely for Jack's sake.

Relationships

Jack the Ripper (Assassin of "Black") is her Servant, whom Reika loves deeply as her own daughter and for whom she is willing to perform any act. Sagara Hyouma was the magus who manipulated and attempted to sacrifice her; after contracting with Jack, Reika had him tortured for information before ruthlessly eliminating him. Sieg became a target of her ambush when Reika disguised herself and shot him at point-blank range to eliminate a strategic threat.

Trivia

Reika holds the distinction of being the very first Master from Fate/Apocrypha to appear in media, debuting in a short story printed in TYPE-MOON Ace prior to the light novel series' release. She is also recognized as the first character in TYPE-MOON works explicitly established as a professional prostitute. In Fate/Grand Order, she is depicted on the Craft Essence titled "Gentle Affection."
