Overview

The JMF-1336R Rising Gundam is a mobile fighter featured in Mobile Fighter G Gundam. Created by Neo Japan's Dr. Mikamura as a prototype for the Shining Gundam, it was constructed specifically for actual combat against the Devil Gundam rather than for formal Gundam Fight tournament regulations. Piloted primarily by the series heroine Rain Mikamura, the machine embodies her non-combative yet resolute desire to rescue others, featuring distinctive Japanese-themed armaments and a tactical mode-switching capability.

Appearance

Sharing numerous components with the Shining Gundam, the Rising Gundam possesses a strikingly similar head and torso structure. However, it is even lighter due to reduced thrusters on its limbs. It features a Heat Naginata mounted under its rear Core Lander and a Beam Bow affixed to its left forearm. By detaching its shoulder armors and uniting them on the left arm, it forms the Rising Shield, enabling a configuration shift into Mobility Mode.

Personality

Rather than reflecting the fierce martial competitive spirit typical of most mobile fighters, the machine embodies pilot Rain Mikamura's compassionate drive to save those infected by DG Cells. Designed with extraordinary precision, its handling reflects a desire to protect and heal rather than destroy. In various tactical games, this translated into specialized repair and support roles, emphasizing its warm, altruistic character within the narrative context.

Abilities

Equipped with head-mounted vulcan and machine cannons alongside a beam machine gun, the unit utilizes a blade-heating Heat Naginata for close combat. Its primary ranged weapon, the arm-mounted Beam Bow, projects a beam string to fire energy arrows, including the devastating Hissatsu Hitchuu Rising Arrow and a zero-distance variant. For defense, it combines shoulder armors into the Rising Shield, while also deploying the Rising Finger to strike enemies with condensed energy.

Background

Originally constructed on Earth for Major Ulube Ishikawa, the unit was hidden on Lantau Island. During the decisive battle against the Devil Gundam, Rain Mikamura commandeered the machine to assist Domon Kasshu. Alongside Schwarz Bruder's Gundam Spiegel, she breached the island's energy barrier. She then intercepted Allenby Beardsley, who was controlled by both DG Cells and Berserker Mode. Facing Allenby's mutated Walter Gundam, Rain delivered a zero-range shot that successfully rescued Allenby, though the Rising Gundam was severely damaged and subsequently abandoned.

Relationships

The machine is closely bonded with its pilot, Rain Mikamura, who commandeered it to aid Domon Kasshu during the climax on Lantau Island. Designed by her father, Dr. Mikamura, it was originally destined for Major Ulube Ishikawa before Rain took control. On the battlefield, Rain fought alongside Schwarz Bruder to dismantle the enemy barrier and engaged Allenby Beardsley, battling ferociously to liberate Allenby from the corrupting influence of the DG Cells.

Trivia

In outer story manga adaptations, the machine is depicted as having been converted from a prototype series named Ninja, which included five other color-coded variant units. Plastic model kits of the mecha share structural components with the Shining Gundam while recreating its mode-changing mechanism. In video game crossovers, it often functions as a repair unit, whereas in competitive action titles it appears as a playable unit capable of tactical mode swaps and long-range sniping.
