Shani Andras

Overview

Shani Andras is a character featured in the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. Serving as a pilot for the Earth Alliance Forces, he is classified as a Boosted Man—a genetically and biologically modified combatant—who operates the experimental GAT-X252 Forbidden Gundam.

Appearance

Shani possesses refined facial features paired with sanpaku eyes accompanied by dark circles underneath. His hair covers the left side of his face, concealing heterochromic eyes—purple on the right and gold on the hidden left. His attire includes damaged jeans, and he frequently wears an eye mask along with large earphones used to block out his surroundings.

Personality

Shani exhibits a sullen, rebellious disposition, frequently scoffing at others and voicing annoyance. Due to his unstable mental condition, he is prone to violent fits of rage, often disregarding military directives and retreat orders to pursue personal grudges in battle. He remains completely detached from those around him, showing no camaraderie toward his designated teammates.

Abilities

Subjected to Stage 4 enhancement, Shani demonstrates extraordinary reaction times and elite piloting proficiency. He effectively commands the versatile yet complex weaponry of the Forbidden Gundam across all engagement ranges, executing defensive parries with the Nidhoggr heavy scythe and taking out multiple enemy units using the curved trajectory of the Hresvelgr beam cannon.

Background

Deployed as a biological asset for the Earth Alliance Forces, Shani took part in high-stakes engagements throughout the war while suffering from severe physical side effects caused by his enhancements. During the final phase of the Battle of Jachin Due, he engaged Yzak Joule's Duel Gundam; caught off guard by his opponent's tactical purging of equipment as a decoy, Shani was struck through the cockpit and perished in combat.

Relationships

Though assigned to the same operational unit as fellow Boosted Men Orga Sabnak and Clotho Buer, Shani maintains no bonds with them and refrains from using their names. His tactical behavior was occasionally tolerated by Natarle Badgiruel when his reckless actions inadvertently served strategic goals. He was ultimately defeated in single combat by Yzak Joule.

Trivia

Shani's primary personal hobby is listening to heavy music, specifically death metal, at extreme volumes. His original voice actor, Shunn (Shunichi Miyamoto), was primarily a musical artist whose low-energy, indifferent vocal delivery was directly tailored under the director's guidance.
